What the test looks for

Determination of microsatellite instability status by multiplex PCR on a panel of mononucleotide markers.

A high MSI status (MSI-H) points to Lynch syndrome, to be confirmed in an oncogenetics consultation, and predicts a good response to immunotherapy. The test usefully complements immunohistochemistry of the MMR proteins (MLH1, MSH2, MSH6, PMS2).

Required sample

  • FFPE tumour block.
  • Tumour cellularity of at least 20%.
  • Pathology report enclosed, with the MMR immunohistochemistry result if available.
